Senior Care

The purpose of our senior care program is to provide optimal care for our senior patients, and to improve the human-animal bond, promote early detection of abnormalities, and to enhance the quality and longevity of your pet's life.

The reason we have chosen to implement this program is the extensive research that has been performed in the field of preventative care of healthy pets.  The research has shown that 20% of "healthy" pets have undiagnosed problems.  Abnormalities, when detected early, have the best chance of responding to therapeutic intervention.

The following are specific minimum laboratory work that is recommended for all pets greater than 7 years of age:

     CBC-complete blood count

     Biochemistry Profile

     Complete Urinalysis

     Fecal Analysis

     T4-Thyroid evaluation in cats

Free T4- Thyroid evaluation in dogs

**species and breed variations may result in the recommendation of other specific tests

We feel that by instituting this program, and running these additional tests at your pet's annual examination, we will be taking a proactive approach to improving the quality of our patients lives.
